About Grotta & Company:
Playful, functional and elegant for special occasions everyday. Grotta & Co. creates exciting textiles with design, print and dyes.
Artist, Laura Goldstein, works with silks, linens and cottons for their elegance and durability. The dramatic transformation to our cloth begins with weeks of repeated dyeing to create rich hues and deep patinas. Imagery and depth are further enhanced with layers of hand screening.
Our designs are crafted to be reversible, multifunctional and playful.
Process & Products:
At Grotta & Co. each piece of cloth, much like a blank canvas, begins white. It goes through an elaborate process of hand dyeing many times, resulting in rich hues and deep patinas - creating an overall unusual ground of color. Each piece is washed repeatedly to remove excess dye. Imagery adds depth with layers of hand screening. Our pillows, scarves and throws are made of the highest quality silk charmeuse - known for durability and strength.
